Personal Biography
Dr. Nicholas Mirkopoulos is a native of Cincinnati. He is a 1975 graduate of Withrow High School. He attended Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois on a football scholarship. He maintains the record for longest field goal in Northwestern University football history. He graduated from University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and went on to do his residency at the Summa combined orthopaedic residency program in Akron, Ohio. He is fluent in both the Greek and Macedonian language. He is also certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
His special interests include total joint replacement and sports medicine. Recently Dr. Mirkopoulos has been employing novel new techniques such as specific patient total joint replacement. He has specialized training in surfacing total joint arthroplasty, anterior hip approach, as well as novel approaches to total hip replacement. (See links below)
He welcomes new patients in both Batesville and Cincinnati offices. He is also currently chairman of the Department of Orthopaedics at Bethesda North Hospital. In his leisure time, Dr. Mirkopoulos enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and participating in indoor soccer.
